SOMATIC TOOLS FOR THE NERVOUS SYSTEM
Through this 5-week series, we will be using an SE™ tool called SCOPE as a way to stay embodied while the system experiences the physiological impact of a survival response.
By having tools to still connect to the body during a crisis, there is more room to digest the experience down the road. This leads to greater resiliency, reduced rates of burnout and less feeling of being haunted by past experiences.
These tools can help prevent emotional overloads or potential post-traumatic stress disorders which is particularly important when your work and/or homelife causes you to experience the shock of trauma on a regular basis.
Each session, we will work with one letter of this acronym. I will demonstrate tools that can be used, give some psychoeducation about the tool, guide us through an experience with this tool From there, we will then open up for discussion.
I will supplement with reading materials and podcasts if that is something you are interested in but it is definitely not required.
